The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is a highly respected qualification. It is an advanced course.
You will go on a vinous adventure to every major wine region learning about a plethora of grape varieties, production methods, and appellations. There are no prerequisites but we do recommend starting with the Level 2 to ensure you have a solid foundation of knowledge.
Courses start approximately every three weeks. You can study at your own pace, and you have nine weeks from the start date to complete the program. This is an outstanding online course, considered to be the gold standard in wine education. You will have access to an expert instructor online to answer all your questions.
The tasting and theory exams must be taken in person. We run WSET Level 3 exams about 2-3 times per year in each of these cities: Calgary, Chicago, Toronto, and Vancouver. You can pick your exam location and date immediately after you register for the course, or at a later date. These exams are held on the last day of our in-person courses. Price & Payments
The WSET Level 3 online course costs US$999, all-inclusive. The cost includes access to the online course, your study guide, a dedicated expert instructor, and your exam fees, and certificate.
You will need to purchase your own wine samples to prepare for the Tasting Exam. After registration, we provide you with a list of recommended wines that are widely available.

Online Program
You can choose from multiple start dates, with courses commencing approximately every three weeks. You will have nine weeks from the course start date to complete the nine modules. You can do these nine modules at your own pace, be it all in a few days or spread over nine weeks. The course material should take about 90 hours in total to complete, which means you should spend at least 10 hours a week studying the material. You will have access to a certified wine educator through the online portal, and can ask questions throughout the course.
Examination
Your WSET Level 3 exam is held in person. We run WSET Level 3 exams about 2-3 times per year in each of these cities: Calgary, Chicago, Toronto, and Vancouver. You can pick your exam location and date immediately after you register for the course, or at a later date. If you need to fly to one of these cities to take the exam we suggest you check with us that the course is proceeding before you book any travel. If your preferred date and location are not available we will provide you with other date and/or location options. We require 18 business days of notice to register you for the WSET Level 3 exam. There is a US$300 fee to change your exam date after it is scheduled or to resit the exam, if required. You have one year to complete the course and exam. Your exam registration will be confirmed 6 weeks prior to the exam date.
The exam consists of a blind tasting of 2 wines (one white, one red), 50 multiple choice questions, and 4 short-answer, multi-part theory questions. A grade of 55% or higher is required on each of the 3 exams to pass the WSET Level 3 Award in Wines. You will receive your results within 8 weeks by email, and if successful your WSET certificate will be mailed to you within 10 weeks anywhere around the world.
The WSET Level 3 Award in Wines is a formal qualification in wine with international recognition. Many students frame their WSET certificates.
