FINE VINTAGE SPECIALTY COURSES

Learn the art of wine tasting, or become a regional expert at our own specialty courses.

Overview

The Fine Vintage specialty courses have been designed by Masters of Wine.  These courses provide an opportunity to develop expertise in specific areas.

SENSORY MASTERCLASS

Our popular and fun 1 day Sensory Masterclass is brilliant for helping you improve your wine tasting ability. The emphasis is on learning to correctly identify and describe aromas and flavours by smelling pure essences on perfume strips and then tasting them in the wines. Students say it is our most fun course. It is suited to both the beginner and the advanced taster. It is an ideal course to take before starting the WSET Level 3 or 4. There is no exam but you will become a better taster!

REGIONAL WINE MASTERCLASS

You can become an expert in the wines of a particular country at our specialist courses on Canada, France and Italy. These 1-day courses are suited to all wine lovers and are great fun. It is an ideal course to take before starting the WSET Level 3 or 4.

TASTING MASTERCLASSES

A fun Saturday afternoon delving into a themed classic region, grape variety, or wine style. This series of courses is ideal for  the casual consumer who fancies a fun afternoon of tasting and learning or the serious student looking to focus on a particular style. Students enjoy 10 benchmark wines before heading out on the town. Each course is a different theme so you can join one, some, or all of them!

TESTIMONIALS

Canadian Wine Scholar

It was truly a pleasure and privilege to take several courses offered by Fine Vintage. The Canadian Wine Scholar course in particular was a catalyst for my viticultural career. It was brimming with information on wine regions from coast to coast and showed a magnificent variety of exceptional wines. The key ingredient for me was David Lawrason’s invaluable expertise, approachable style and passion for the content. I highly recommend it for novices and aficionados.

HEIDI LORCH – TORONTO/OKANAGAN
Sensory Course

Having taken the first three levels of WSET as well as the Sensory Course and the French Wine Professional Course, I would highly recommend Fine Vintage courses to anyone looking to learn more about wine and expand their palate. The level of instruction is absolutely phenomenal and with their lively, upbeat approach to learning, the teachers make it so fun! Fine Vintage does not spare any expense on class examples either! You will taste some of the most delicious wines in your life! Regardless of the level, these are 5 star Wine Education Courses!

CHELCIA PETERSEN – CALGARY
French Wine Scholar

I was always so confused by all the different wine regions, grapes, and labels in France but I love French wines. This course made sense of it all and taught me the about the most important wines and we tasted some amazing ones! I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in France and it is especially useful if you are about to do the WSET level 3.

GARRET MCDONNALD – VANCOUVER
American Wine Professional

I’ve lived in the USA my entire life, worked in the wine industry for 40 years, and been to every American wine region. I spent 2 years reviewing and advising on the development of this course with James Cluer MW and his team. I believe it is a truly outstanding course that covers what you really need to know about American wine, with exceptional tastings!

LYN FARMER, INSTRUCTION – MIAMI
