ABOUT THE TOUR & REGION
THE CLASSIC REGIONS OF SOUTH AUSTRALIA
We meet in Adelaide and set-off for epic tastings in the outskirts of the city. Our 5-star hotel is centrally located so there is less time on the bus but plenty of time to taste through your flight of iconic wines.
After 2 days we move on to Tanunda in the heart of the Barossa Valley, home to Australia’s most revered estates and ancient vines. We stay at a luxurious hotel within walking distance of the town center.
The final days are an adventure through the historic estates and modern marvels in the pantheon of great Australian wine. We taste wines from century-plus old vines and learn from the owners and winemakers.
On a Fine Vintage tour, you’ll get privileged access to people, places and wines. It’s really quite an experience.
ADELAIDE: AUSTRALIA’S WINE CAPITAL
Start with an iconic tasting at Penfolds that includes the infamous Grange Shiraz before heading to the hills – the Adelaide Hills – for the country’s best Sauvignon Blancs, Pinot Noirs, and Chardonnays.
The next day, we branch out and explore the magnificence of the McLaren Vale where a varied landscape creates a wide range of wine styles and where old vine Grenache reigns supreme.
Penfolds, Shaw + Smith, d’Arenberg and others welcome us on our first 2 days.
HISOTRY & MODERNITY
In the Eden and Barossa Valleys, we take a trip back in time with visits to Australia’s pioneering wineries and taste intense wines from vines that date to the mid-19th century.
Next, visits to ultra-modern wineries and meet revolutionary winemakers who are advancing Australian wine to the next century.
Yalumba, Chateau Tanunda, Torbreck and others take us through this delightfully dizzying journey through time.
FABULOUS FOOD
Australians are passionate about their food. Talented chefs from around the world fuse international flavors and techniques with the bounty provided by local growers, farmers, and ranchers. Meals range from casual bistro fare to elegant fine dining, and there is always a BBQ grilling somewhere.
