VENETO WINE TOURS

Valpolicella and Amarone, Soave and Franciacorta, plus total immersion in La Dolce Vita

DISCOVER THE MAGIC OF NORTHERN ITALY

The Veneto region is home to the famous wines of Soave and Valpolicella, including the richest and most intense of all Italian wines, Amarone. It is also home to some of the most beautiful scenery in Europe – such as Lake Garda – and an unrivalled patrimony of historic medieval towns and villages.

With the vibrant and deeply romantic city of Verona as your base, we have carefully curated a luxury 5 day trip to experience everything this magical part of Italy has to offer.

Accompanied by your Master of Wine host, you will visit the leading producers of the region, before finishing in neighboring Lombardy in the vineyards of Franciacorta, Italy’s very own answer to Champagne.

Along the way, you will also discover magnificent villas, castles, fortified towns, and ride the iconic ferry across Lake Garda.
Being Italy, food is a big part of life here, and we will be dining at not one but two Michelin starred restaurants, as well as sharing traditional fare with the locals in relaxed settings, and even discovering the secrets of olive oil production.

A great option for a luxury tour showcasing fine wines and delicious Italian food against a backdrop of amazingly preserved medieval history and outstanding natural beauty. This is a trip for lovers of wine and lovers of all the good things in life. La Dolce Vita!

I invite you to join us.

CITY OF LOVERS, CITY OF WINE

The program starts Sunday afternoon in Verona, with an introduction to the wine styles of the region, led by your Master of Wine host. Quickly things become less scholarly, as we decamp to the legendary Bottega del Vino, one of the most famous and atmospheric wine bars in the world, in time for aperitif hour. Then, it’s on to Michelin-starred Restaurant Iris for our welcome dinner, in the company of two delightful local wine producers.

VALPOLICELLA

A short drive from Verona brings us to the world-famous vineyards of Valpolicella, where we visit Zyme, an eye-catching modern project, before a VIP welcome at leading producer Marilisa Allegrini’s flagship Villa della Torre, a magnificently restored renaissance villa dating from the 15th and 16th centuries.

After a leisurely lunch at the Villa, there is a chance to tour a genuine artisanal olive oil farm, before our return to Verona in time for a full free evening.

Lake Garda

LAKE GARDA

A morning dedicated to culture, with tours of Borghetto sul Mincio – an extraordinary ancient village unlike anything you have ever seen – and Sirmione, with its world-famous old town jutting into Lake Garda.

The ferry from Sirmione to Bardolino takes us on a super-scenic journey right across Lake Garda, and then we get our wine glasses out again for visits and tastings at two iconic wine producers, Tommasi and Masi. Dinner is at Masi, accompanied by some of their very finest Amarone.

SOAVE

Producing arguably the most famous white wines of Italy, Soave sits proudly on a hill overlooking the luscious plains of the Veneto. Our day in Soave features VIP visits to two of the most highly-regarded estates, Pieropan and Gini, plus a chance to explore the old castle and town of Soave itself, voted most beautiful small town in all Italy!

The day concludes with dinner at the fabulous Villa de Winckels, originally a 12th century monastery, now converted into a luxury hotel and restaurant.

FRANCIACORTA AND LAKE ISEO

On our last day, we cross into Lombardy to discover Franciacorta, Italy’s most prestigious appellation for Champagne-style sparkling wines. The pioneer of this high quality wine is Guido Berlucchi, whose estate we visit before a grand gala lunch at the Michelin-starred Ristorante Due Colombe.

Nearby Lake Iseo is smaller than Lake Garda and Lake Como, but no less picturesque, and a leisurely stroll along its banks after such a great lunch marks a perfect end to the program, before the coach brings you to Milan.

TESTIMONIALS

The experience was all we could have asked for!

“My wife Karen and I were on the Tuscany tour in May. The experience was all we could have asked for.

The tour had a good balance of scheduled events and free time. The accommodations were excellent, very comfortable and clean. The wineries we toured were top quality and it was a treat to visit some locations which we would not be able to see if we were on our own.

Lastly, I must comment on the rest of the tour group. We were very pleased with the other members of the tour, who all seemed to enjoy each other's company. It was certainly not a bus full of wine snobs. The group had lots of knowledge, but never let it get in the way of having a few laughs. We look forward to the next trip we can take with Fine Vintage!”
